Crown City Rockers- “Astroshocks”
Crown City Rockers emcee Raashan Ahmad has an incredibly smooth delivery for a wordsmith with such tongue twisting rhymes. Listening to “Astroshocks’” percolating beat, it’s easy to miss the fact that he’s throwing couplets like “Good grief! Gallivantin’ gallopin’ throwin’ up javelins / travelin’ that again? That’ll blend magic and miracle” like it’s nothing. Also remarkable is the fact that this intricate track is comprised of all live instruments… Drummer Max MacVeety lays down a foundation to make any drum machine short circuit with jealousy, while keyboard virtuoso Kat Ouano takes us to outerspace on a collection of 70s analog synthesizers. The band’s first album in 5 years, The Day After Forever, drops September 29th on Gold Dust.
